Working in a big law firm, one of my guaranteed keys to a coveted partnership role is a “book of business.” I’ve done everything I can so far: taken in-house clients to lunch, spoken at events, wrote articles, the list goes on.
A few months ago, as I was getting ready to go to bed, I realized one thing. I had never actually prayed for a major client. I only ever tried to do it on my own. What could it hurt, I asked myself? I put my hands together before going to bed, and prayed that God would help me bring in some of my own business.
It was no coincidence that a month ago, I brought in a Fortune 500 client into the firm. I was too caught up in the excitement of it all to put the pieces together until recently. All of a sudden partners started respecting me. The fact that I brought in a client as a young associate on my own became talk of the floors. To be honest, it felt pretty good.
It was only a few weeks ago, after basking in all the glory of this new accomplishment, that it clicked. This was something I prayed about. I realized that it was no coincidence that God made the stars align.
What is something you have been wanting? If it hasn’t happened yet, ask yourself: Have you prayed about it yet? If not, I encourage you to!
“Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” Mark 11:24.
